Jean Pierre Bertrand – Domaine Grand Nicolet

Grand Nicolet planted the first hectares of vines in 1875 and in 1926 the first cellar was built on the estate. In fact, it was the first private cellar of the appellation at the time. Joseph Nicolet planted the first Grenache noir and Carignan of the winery in 1930 and the rest is history.

In 1999, Jean Pierre Bertrand began running the estate and he started bottling his best wines. Jean Pierre has chosen to adopt a traditional vinification process that eliminates the use of chemical treatments and requires ploughing throughout the year. Combining ancestral methods with modern viticulture allows for authentic, contemporary wines with robust characters.

Grand Nicolet produces a selection of Côtes du Rhône, Côtes du Rhône Villages Rasteau and Vin Doux Naturel that demonstrate the essence of terroir in Rasteau – generous and powerful with spicy hints, black fruits and garrigue.
